ASUU threatened to embark on strike after FG disregards requests.


The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) through its Lagos Zone Coordinator, Prof. Olusoji Sowande at a news gathering in Lagos on Tuesday, debilitated to set out on an across the nation strike as to its requests for the usage of its 2009 concurrence with the Federal Government. 


Sowande said the 2009 FG/ASUU assention, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on financing of state colleges, breaks of the
states of administration and re-arrangement of the assention, avoidance of Nigerian colleges from Pension Management Company and non-arrival of NEEDS Assessment Intervention Fund were all the while being disregarded. The

He said: 

"The audit of the assention ought to have been attempted in 2012 and 2015 yet that did not happen.‎ "The suggestion is that our union has sufficiently demonstrated patriotism and comprehension on these matters in the most recent four years. 

"We are bewildered and disillusioned that both the Federal and State Governments are not reacting to our reliable speaks to achieve bona fide change in the instruction segment, "" he said. 

He said they would rather not set out on a strike since it is the Students and ASUU individuals that end up misery. Including: 

"Tragically that the main dialect government seems to regard and listens to is that of mechanical activity like strike".
