Police arrest 39 suspected cult members in Imo

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have captured 36 associated cultists in different parts with the state.


The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, who paraded the suspects before
columnists on the premises of the state police order in Owerri, said that the captures were made when helpful data was made accessible to clandestine agents of the charge.

"Considering the spate of cultism in the state and taking after a strategically organized operation by agents of the state police order on August 24, 2016, knowledge report assembled through trustworthy sources uncovered that some infamous cultists were wanting to hold a start party for new individuals inside the Nekede range of Owerri," Lakanu said.

The police supervisor recorded shows recuperated from the associates as three talking drums with various sizes, sachets of salt, berets, image and barrels of palm wine.

Lakanu said those captured had admitted to being individuals from the "Yes" confraternity.

While speaking to guardians and watchmen to screen the behavior of their kids and wards, he said intensive examinations had started with a perspective to charging the suspects to court in like manner.

Lakanu said policemen had been sent in famous regions in the state to battle wrongdoing.
